One of PMLR’s Rockstar Realtors, Colette Trail, Revitalizes Farms to Families Program in Wayne County, Wins Community Service Award
It was around this time last year when Colette Trail of Pocono Mountain Lakes Realty‘s Hawley Office felt compelled to “do more” to give back to her community. “As Realtors we are truly blessed, and I wanted to do something to help out,” she explained to me when asked how this all started. That’s when she drove to her local food pantry and asked one simple question, “What do you need?”
Stunned by such a rare question, the food pantry explained to Colette how a covid-era program called Farms to Families – a program that connects local farmers and fresh food with community food pantries in an effort to enhance community sustainability – was out of funds and in danger of going defunct.
“I got it,” Colette said. And from that moment on she was on a mission to reinvigorate the Farms to Families program, a task that began with marketing – one of the cornerstone skills of any real estate agent. Colette got the word out about the program, approaching local businesses in the community and also local professionals she had spent years working with. After a few shorts months of marketing and organizing, Colette held her first fundraiser for Farms to Families, an effort that raised over $10,000. Seeing such success she knew she was onto something, and she kept pushing.
By the end of 2025, Colette had raised over $25,000 for Farms to Families, and created a community of participants from local farmers to local businesses. The once dwindling program has now become a centerpiece of community sustainability in Wayne County, with Colette’s model for success laying the groundwork for other communities to achieve the same.
Earlier this week in the beginning of December, Colette Trail was honored with the Pike Wayne Association of REALTOR’s very first Community Service Award. The association hopes that by honoring Colette for her community service and all she has done so far with Farms to Families, that other real estate professionals will take up the torch and start looking to make that kind of an impact on all of our communities.
This is not a surprise to us at Pocono Mountain Lakes Realty because we know about Colette’s big heart and pedal-to-the-metal work ethic, but we amplify her story to share the power of positive energy, community service, and doing good for those who need the most help in our communities. Cheers Colette!
